Thjis DVD was said to be used and it came wrapped tight and in great condition. My daughter loves this movie and it was a great addition to our Disney Collection.

The movie itself is just wonderful. Beautiful animations and unforgettable songs combine with a wonderful storyline that deserves all of its rave reviews. I saw this on TV once and never forgot it. The characters are all unique and beautifully drawn, the backgrounds are amazing. The film as a whole makes you "believe" it. The characters' personalities, joys and struggles echo real life. Happiness, grief and humor are wonderfully portrayed and balanced at the right times. The movie has more "action violence" and more of a dark subplot than other Disney movies, so check it out before letting young children watch.
As for the DVD itself, the film is wonderfully enhanced, although the colors are restored just a little too brightly. Other customers have cited a few animation changes, but I don't remember those exact scenes from when I first saw it, so check out the other reviews :). There is so much to enjoy here--Elton John music videos, more background art, the story of the creation and animation, etc. However, the Special Features menu is needlessly thrown around and confusing. The kids' DVD games are bland (I know that if I were a kid I wouldn't like them). The Disney 'Circle of Stars' performance of 'Circle of Life' is almost "sacrilege". But overall, the film and the insightful special features are just amazing.

This film is a ripoff of Bambi, but that is in no way a bad thing. A few things have changed around here. First off, the father dies instead of the mother. Second off, there are musical numbers where the characters sing, not musical numbers where off-screen people sing. Lastly, this is also the "lion" version of Hamlet, and that's pretty interesting. My favorite character is obviously Young Simba, because he reminds me a lot of Bambi. There's no guessing that this is a masterpiece.
